Once you begin researching Ham Radio, or if you receive your license and are looking for more information on the various aspects of the hobby, you will discover there are numerous resources available for all aspects of the hobby. I have included a few to get you started, however, your imagination is your limit!

QRP Clubs (Low Power) – These clubs focus on using low power, below 5 watts, for all communications. This adds a definite challenge to your QSO. They also have numerous building projects they undertake, kits are available, and fun contesting and operating events throughout the year.

ARRLThe premier association of Ham radio operators is the ARRL (American Radio Relay League). They are the heart of the hobby within the US and many parts of the world. A wealth of information is available on their site and as a member of ARRL, you will be able to receive their QST magazine that covers all aspects of this hobby, including building, technical topics and contesting.

Contesting in Ham radio, aka Radiosport, is a very big part of many operators' life. Stations range from portable backpack systems to rooms with 20 operating positions and acres of antennas! It is fun and can be rewarding as awards are issued for various finishing positions. Contests run most every month and it is sometimes difficult to choose which one you will enter. Here are a few sites that cater to contesting and have schedules of upcoming 'tests' as well as historical data on past events. Jump right in and have fun!
